                                  JOE'S POV

I'm not usually one to lose my cool.

I'm serious. No matter how dangerous my work can be, I'm not usually running through the woods, screaming out a girl's name.

 But this time was different.

Recently, ATAC had teamed us up with a new agent in our town named (Name) (Last Name). I'll be honest with you, I was skeptical about her at first. She didn't really seem like the type of person to take down a criminal.

But on our first mission together, she made me eat those words.

We were investigating a case of death threats made against a multi-millionaire CEO of a corporation that had been the center of a lot of controversy and heated debates. We had found out that it had been the vice president behind the threats because he had planned to kill the CEO so he wouldn't find out that he had been embezzling millions of dollars from the company. The threats were to throw anyone off his trail.
But I'm rambling now. Anyway, the vice president had caught me alone and tried to kill me so that I wouldn't be able to out him. But guess who saved my sorry butt from being blown sky-high?

 Yeah, that's right. (Name).

Ever since then, we've been as close as two people can be. She's smart, funny, and just plain fun to be around.

And I'm not ashamed to admit that she's super cute.

                            FRANK'S POV

Frank here. Get to the here and now, Casanova.

                             JOE'S POV

This is my story Frank. Butt out. Anyway, we were here in a small suburb of Chicago investigating a series of murders, all of the victims being young girls with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes. I'll spare you all the long and boring sciencey stuff, but thanks to the three of us putting our detective skills to good use, we'd learned that the killer had been Peter Garret, a huge, burly, bull of a man who apparently wasn't all there. His only family had been his son, but after his son had been strung along and abandoned by his girlfriend, a girl with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes, he'd hung himself in his room.

After that, Peter had suffered a severe mental break, and took out the resulting torrent of rage on any girl in his neighborhood with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes, thinking that they were his son's ex.

 Girls...that looked just like (Name)...

And she had gone off alone after him!

Which brings me back to where I am now, running like a madman through the forest and screaming for (Name).

As I got deeper into the forest, I began hearing these strangled cries and gasps for air. Following the sounds, I finally spotted (Name).

 With Peter.

With his hands around her neck.

If my panic mode wasn't on full blast before, it certainly was now.

 "(NAME)!"

Adrenaline was fueling me now. And I had plenty of it, believe me. I sprinted forward and tackled Peter, making him let go of (Name) so he could fight it out with me.

                        YOUR POV

All I could do was sit there gasping as Joe rolled about on the ground, trying to overpower the man who had just a few seconds ago tried to kill me.
Joe and I didn't get along at first. He doubted that I would be much help as an ATAC agent. It ended up being me who saved him on our first mission together, but I didn't rub it in. We became a lot closer after that, and I wouldn't be lying if I said I had some feelings for the guy.

What? He may be a little full of himself at times, but he's reliable and brave, and he is pretty easy on the eyes.

But back to the present. Joe was wearing Peter out, but I could tell that he was getting pretty tired too. Unless we got backup like, NOW, we would both be dead.

And Frank must have ESP or something, because he showed up at that exact moment with several police officers.

                           TIMESKIP; JOE'S POV

"Sometimes I think the both of you have more air in your heads than brains," Frank scolded us. The police had insisted that (Name) be taken to the hospital to be checked out, and we insisted on going with her.

"(Name), you shouldn't have gone after Peter alone, and Joe, you should have waited for me to contact the police before you ran after her."

"If I'd waited, (Name) would be dead," I grumbled. "Sometimes you just have to move, Frank."

Frank sighed. "Yeah, yeah. But I wish you two wouldn't be so reckless." He walked out of the room, leaving the two of us alone.

I crossed my arms and looked at (Name) sternly. "He is right though. You shouldn't have gone after Peter alone."

"Like you can talk," she shot back. "You rush headlong into dangerous situations all the time. Why is it so bad for me to rush into danger, but not you?"

"Why?!" I exploded. "I'll show you why!" I lunged forward, grabbing both sides of her face.

 And I kissed her.

I felt her stiffen up, but slowly relax as I kissed her. She grabbed onto the shoulders of my jacket, and I felt her start to kiss me back. The thing I had dreamed most about lately was finally happening.

Eventually we pulled away and just stared into each other’s eyes. Then she decided to break the silence.

"I like you too, you moron. So let's promise each other to be a little less reckless from now on."

       I laughed. "Yes ma'am."

As I took (Name) into my arms to kiss her again, I suddenly didn't mind so much that so many girls went for Frank.

Because I had the best girl of all here in my arms.
OK, I'm just going to say it. I. Freaking. Love the Hardy Boys. I've read both the classic stories and the Undercover Brothers series, and they are so great. I wrote this in the style of the Undercover Brothers series because, well, I can't really write in the style of the classic books.
And yes, I know the Hardy Boys are more for kids, but I think the Undercover Brothers books are more geared toward teens, so it's fine.
I don't own a thing but the story. All credit for the Hardy Boys books goes to the respective owners.

A diamond in the ruff. Just like trying to find the original Hardy boys audiobooks.

I loved this.
